David Taber brings a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to SoftSol’s Forte Advisory Council. His past experiences have given him valuable insight into the Forte environment – both from technical and abusiness perspectives.
While Senior V.P. of Business Development at Forte Software, he created strategic partnerships with platform vendors who could be market makers for Forte's SynerJ (Enterprise Java) and the Fusion (Enterprise Application Integration) product lines. In 60 business days, David managed the group from a standing start to an acquisition by Sun Microsystems valued at $710 million.
David architected and built the portal-based channel for Forte for Java and signed over 100 partners in under one year. He re-positioned Forte as an integration and Java development system for enterprise-scale applications. David also led the entire Forte international marketing team producing excellent results thereby making Forte attractive to Sun Microsystems.
David served as Director of Web and Business Development at Sun from 1999 to 2001. During that time, he created a web community of more than 100,000+ users and a marketplace with a run-rate of $8 million.
He has an MBA in Marketing from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley and a B.A. in history from Cowell College, University of California at Santa Cruz.

Shanker is uniquely qualified to help SoftSol understand the Sun Forte environment and client base. He has more than 20 years of global sales and marketing experience directly applicable to SoftSol’s target market. Shanker has held a number of leadership positions at Sun Microsystems Inc. spanning 1996 to 2005. He was Vice President, Datacenter Solutions Practice, Global Sales Organization 2003-2005; Vice President, Worldwide Field Marketing, 2001-2003; and Vice President and Managing Director, Sun (U.K. and Ireland), 1998-2001.
Shanker has served on advisory boards including the U.K. Government Information Age Partnership and has represented Sun on South African President Thabo Mbeki's Advisory Council on the Digital Divide. He is also an advisor and mentor to a few early stage IT companies that are centered in Silicon Valley, the U.K. and India.
Shanker has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and a Master of Science (Mathematics and Computing) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. |
